Long Beach, CA can not only say it’s been home to Snoop Dogg and Cameron Diaz, it can now say it’s home to several new vegan and vegan-friendly establishments. I have always said that I should be a paid spokesperson for Long Beach because I’m such a fan of the city’s ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. Now, I’m proud to say it’s becoming a mecca for vegan food. My heart and belly love this.
Recently, the city of Long Beach City Council voted to pass a resolution implementing a Meatless Monday campaign. The motion carried with a 7-2 vote. Meatless Monday is a campaign to encourage people to bypass meat consumption on Mondays. It’s not a requirement, just something that’s encouraged. I think it’s a wonderful idea and have seen it work well in Los Angeles, where it’s been in effect since November of 2012.
I’m just starting this site, but envision it to be a resource to both residents and visitors of Long Beach who want to find the most delicious vegan eats the city has to offer. I’ve been cataloging the expansion of vegan food in Long Beach for several years on my former blog, Feed Me, I’m Cranky. Please bear with me as I develop this site’s branding, messaging and long-term plan.
